What is Deep Plane Facelift?

Definition

A deep plane facelift is a facelift technique that repositions the deeper layers of the face (the SMAS and underlying tissues) as a unit, rather than just tightening skin, producing more natural and longer-lasting results.

Unlike a traditional skin-only or SMAS-plication facelift, the deep plane technique releases and lifts deeper structures, avoiding a 'pulled' look. It is more technically demanding, so it is worth confirming a surgeon performs a true deep plane lift.
